How to Reach Dehradun:

The base camp of Har Ki Dun trek is the quaint village of Sankri. In order to reach this destination, you need to visit Dehradun. It takes approximately 9-10 hours to reach Sankri from Dehradun, covering a distance of 198 kilometres. 

By Air- The nearest airport to Sankri is Dehradun, Jolly Grant Airport, which is easily accessible from all metropolitan cities within India by direct and connecting flights. It takes around 3-6 hours to get to Dehradun, depending upon the distance covered, and the number and duration of layovers.

After reaching Dehradun,you can take a taxi or a cab to Sankri. 

By Train- Reach Dehradun railway station by boarding some of the regular trains that connect Dehradun from most major parts of India like Amritsar, Kolkata, Delhi, and Chandigarh. These trains are Amritsar Dehradun Express, Kumbh Express, Doon Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, and Kathgodam Express. Upon reaching Dehradun, you can avail a taxi or a car to reach Sankri. 

By Bus- You can easily get a public or a private bus to Dehradun from all nearby cities like Saharanpur, Chandigarh, Ambala, Pathankot, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, and others. Himachal Road Transportation Corporation and Uttarakhand Transport Corporation function majorly upon these routes. As you reach Dehradun, hire a taxi or a cab to reach Sankri. You can also take any of the three early-morning local bus services (private and public both) to go to Sankri, covering 197 kilometres in around 8 hours.

By Car- NH 72A, NH 7, and NH 307 are some of the most important highways that connect Dehradun from nearby places. It is 257 kilometres away from Delhi, and it takes around 5 hours to reach by car. You can simply hire a car and enjoy a scenic long-drive to this hill station, rest for the night, and then steer your way up to Sankri the next day.
