located near the Chaubatia Gardens and at a distance of 7 km from the city
centre. A small flight of stairs goes to the hilltop where the temple is

Jhula Devi Temple, which is 7 km from Ranikhet and surrounded by Chaubatia orchards, is a famous 8th-century shrine to Maa Durga. The deity is famously sitting on a wooden jhula (swing), which is where it gets its name. Legend has it that she showed up in a shepherd's dream, which led the villagers to find her idol and build the temple to keep tigers away.
