Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls

One of the most beautiful natural formations of Langkawi, Telaga Tujuh is an awe inspiring view to observe. According to the island’s myth, the waterfall had captivated the hearts of fairies and hence they transformed it their bathing place. Therefore, it is believed that the waterfall and its springs have several healing powers and medicinal value. You can either hike up to the Gunung Mat Cinang or use a cable car to reach the place.

Gunung Lang Recreational Park
Gunung Lang Recreational Park is set amidst the breathtaking view of the limestone hills of Gunung Lang and Gunung Bilike. It is one of the most scenic spots in Ipoh. The park covers a long area of 30.35 hectares, almost half of which consists of lake. To reach the park you have to take a short boat-ride through the lake, amidst the natural beauty. The park consists of well manicured gardens, a tower which provides the landscape view of the park, gazebos, mini-zoo, campsites and children play grounds.

Highlights:
One of the main attractions of the Park is the artificial waterfall on top of a limestone hill.

Location: The Park is located only 5 KM away from Ipoh town and 3.6 KM from the Ipoh railway station.

Timing: 08:00 am - 06:30 pm

Price: Boat ride fee is RM 3 for adults and RM 1.5 for children and senior citizens.

Agro Technology Park In Mardi

Taman Agroteknologi MARDI, located on the magnificent Cameron Highland, is one of Langkawi's most popular ecotourism destinations, attracting over 100,000 tourists each year. This agro-technology park is surrounded by the beautiful Gunung Raya Forest Reserve and is separated into multiple zones dedicated to various types of fruits, flowers, and vegetables. On a guided tour of the attraction, you may see 20 different types of tropical fruits, 40 varieties of roses, 100 citrus fruits, and much more. At the end of the tour, you’ll also be treated to a delightful tropical fruit buffet.

Gunung Jerai
Though there are many mountains in Malaysia, Gunung Jerai stands out purely because of its mystical and mythological charm even today. Located at a height of 3854feet, this peak is also known as Kedah’s Peak.

Highlights – At the base of the mountain, there are traces of ancient (century-old) Buddhist and Hindu temples, reverberating a sense of divinity that cannot be explained in words.

Facts – The trekking trails of this mountain are quite dangerous. There have been various cases of missing people reported in the past. Merbok to Yan trail is the most used route by people coming here. The complete trip may take anywhere between 9 and 10 hours for experienced hikers.

Timings – Any time during the year.

Fee – No need to get any permit.

Gunung Gayong
Gunung Gayong is part of the Titiwatsa Mountain Range. It stands at a mighty 7129feet above sea level, making it the 4th tallest peak in Peninsular Malaysia.

Highlights – It is always visited along with yet another peak of Titiwatsa, Mount Korbu, which is the 2nd tallest peak in Peninsular Malaysia at a height of 7162feet. Only professional mountain hikers can visit these peaks as it takes around 4 to 5 days to make a return trip here. Completing this trip is considered to be rare, as it is replete with many challenging hurdles.

Facts – Kinta Dam and Blue Valley Dam are two points through which you can start hiking to these peaks. One can get lost easily here as there are no clear marks. Hence, using the services of a professional guide becomes mandatory.

Timings – Late January to March.

Fee – Permit required if hiking is done from Kinta Dam. Total fee for two peaks – RM205 at the maximum per person

Gunung Tahan
Gunung Tahan or Mount Tahan is located inside the Taman Negara National Forest and is a visual delight for locals and foreign tourists. At a height of 2187m, this is easily the tallest peak in Peninsular Malaysia. It requires a lot of physical endurance to scale this peak.

Highlights – One of the most challenging and tough trekking trails in the world, Only suitable for experts in mountain hiking.

Facts – There are 3 tough trekking trails here .They are – a) Sungai Relau to Gunung Tahan and back to Sungai Relau b) Sungai Relau to Gunung Tahan and to Kuala Tahan c)Kuala Tahan to Gunung Tahan and back to Sungai Relau. As trekking trails are quite arduous, people coming here for hiking should furnish relevant medical and fitness certificates.

Timings – June to September.

Fee – RM100 towards permit charges

Gunung Nuang
At a height of 4898feet, Gunung Nuang is located in Selangor and is considered to be one of the tallest peaks in this area. It is quite smaller than most of the Malaysian mountains, which is why it is ranked 86th in the overall list of tall peaks here.

Highlights - The trekking trails in Gunung Nuang are quite stressful and tedious; therefore prior experience in mountain hiking is mandatory when people come here.



Fact – The trail starts from Pangsoon village at a height of 200m above sea level and the trails are accompanied by dense forests and river crossings. One has to then cross the tough terrains of Camp Lolo and Camp Pengasih to finally reach the peak. It takes around 5 to 6 hours to get to the top and about 4 hours downhill.

Timings – All through the year.

Fee – RM1 towards registration at the jungle forest.


Gunung Lambak
If you love to go on a hiking experience, but don’t have enough time on your hands, all you have to do is to visit Gunung Lambak, situated in Kluang Town, Johar. This hill is just 510m in height, but provides you a fit & healthy ambience.

Highlights – This hill doesn’t look like a perfect hiking spot; it looks more like a picnic spot with people coming in huge crowds especially during the weekends. Kids play merrily in the playgrounds located at the base of this hill, while adults enjoy peaceful banter amidst the sounds of various local food stalls set up here.



Facts – It takes just around one hour to get to the peak of this hill. The place is located easily from Singapore within 2 hours.

Timings – Period between November and March is the best.

Fee – No admission charges and no permits are required to get to its peak.


Gunung Belumut
At a height of 1010m, Gunung Belumut or Mount Belumut is one of the famous hiking destinations in Malaysia. Strategically located at just few hours from Singapore, many tourists come here as part of day-picnic tours to enjoy the flora and beauty of this summit.

Highlights – The trekking trails are mostly sloping; hence people with ample mountain hiking experience should take up hiking here. Though it is not one of those easy trails, it is definitely far easier than Cameron Highlands.

Facts – It takes around 5 hours to go up and 3 hours to come down this trip. Permits need to be obtained from Jabatan Hutan Kluang in advance for this. There are lots of places where one can sit and relax.

Timings – December – January is the best, as the climate is cold, but pleasant.

Fee – Permit costs RM150 per group, however big or small the group is; Hiking guide costs around RM140 for a group of 25 people maximum.

Cenang Beach
Turquoise blue waters, white sandy beaches and a host of local and international tourists, Cenang Beach in the scenic Langkawi Island, is one of the busy beaches in Malaysia. There are lots of resorts here in various ranges to suit the travellers.

Highlights – This is one of the upmarket beaches in Malaysia as you will find tourists from Asia and abroad in large numbers, especially during weekends and school holidays. Apt for water sports activities like swimming, parasailing, jet skiing, para-motoring, banana rides etc. To cater to the tourists, many foods stalls are put up all over the shores. While swimming, watch out for jellyfishes.

Batu Hampar Beach

Stretching across 25 kilometres from the Pantai Kok beach, Batu Hampar white sand beach lies on the western coastline of Langkawi. Decked up with lush green forest and plenty of coconut and mangrove trees, Batu Hampar is the perfect destination if you want a peaceful beach holiday away from tourist crowds. This beach, in addition to its vegetation and clear blue sea, offers spectacular rock formations that are worth having a look at.

Pebble Beach
Pebble Beach is a beach with no sand and just pebbles and rocks. You can find rocks and pebbles of just about every shape and size, hence the name, The Pebble Beach. Not too many locals or the tourists know or visit this beach. Since there is no sand, it is not ideal for swimming.

Location: Pebble Beach is situated at the north western end of Langkawi in Datai area. Situated right opposite to the Temurun waterfalls on the north shore, you can reach the beach from the Jalan Datai (road #161). You’ll have to pass through the steep natural trail that passes through a forested area for about 50 yards to the beach and is covered by trees.

Highlights: There is a make shift open-air restaurant called 3-Tiga that is situated on the trail that leads you down to the beach.

Best Time: Open 24 hours a day.

Tengkorak Beach
Tengkorak Beach is one of the most secluded and definitely a very beautiful beach in the Langkawi. It has just about everything for the beach lovers and is a favorite of locals here. From the crystal clear waters to the soft white sands and forested trees, you get everything here.

Location: Situated in the Datai area, the Tengkorak Beach is easily accessible from the road Jalan Datai (Rd #161) in northern Langkawi. This road will go all the way to the Datai Resort. You can easily get a taxi to help you reach the place. About 3 km from the Crocodile Farm, it is located just before Andaman Resort.

Highlights: It is one of the few beaches in Langkawi that has shower rooms and toilets. You can also find picnic tables in the park land and there are shaded gazebos along the beach.

Price: Entry to the beach is absolutely free

Best Time: Being a public beach, it is open 24 hours a day.

Shark Bay Beach

Shark Bay Beach is undoubtedly the most beautiful and popular beaches in the Langkawi. It gets its name, Shark Bay Beach because of the presence of few sharks made of stone. These sharks on the display at the side of the beach promenade. You’ll not get to see any real sharks here and the water is definitely very calm here. Not too long, the beach is said to be the continuation of the Black Sand Beach.

Pantai Tengah Beach

Decked with swaying palm and coconut trees, Pantai Tengah is yet one of the popular beaches in Langkawi, Malaysia. It is the island's longest beach, measuring 700 metres. While it does not have many tourist attractions, the crystal clear blue waters and tranquil atmosphere are enough to captivate your heart. Pantai Tengah also offers a variety of water sports, dining options, shopping avenues, and massage parlours, making it an ideal destination for a romantic or family vacation.

Rebak Island
When you make your way to the Langkawi Island, you can come across a number of outlying islets. Measuring some 390 acres, Rebak Island is just a short boat ride away. It is one of the most exquisite international hotel chain, Vivanta by Taj, part of the Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces. There is nothing much to do or see on these shores besides the soaking in the surf or sunbathing. So, for those who enjoy sightseeigs, you can take the boat back to the mainland and visit the Langkawi Island’s more popular beaches including the Pantai Tengah, Pantai Kok and Pantai Cenang.

Highlights: The Rebak Island is an incredibly calm and secluded place that makes for a perfect romantic gateway. It has an exceptionally beautiful marina and is the only fully equipped marina in the entire country.

Pantai Cenang Beach

Pantai Cenang Beach is said to be the busiest beach town on Langkawi Island. Temurun Waterfall

Being the tallest falls at about 200 meters - Temurun waterfall is one of the popular Langkawi attractions; especially amongst groups of families and friends who like to take a day off and come here for a picnic, play games at natural grounds, bathe in the clear water and rest in the lap of nature. The rocks here are made of limestones and shale and are believed to be over 500 million years old.
