Saribung Trek is the most newly introduced trek, hence it is an ideal place for trekkers who want to try something different. This trek has been recently included in the Mustang region. However one would find at the inception that the trek is pretty simpler but as you ascend upwards it will be difficult to move upwards without the technical difficulties.

If you want to spot the last areas of woodland then it will be seen in Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. It has quite recently got the wildlife status. Swayambhunath stupa is an ancient religious architecture located atop a conical wooden hill in the Kathmandu valley. This golden spire is one of the most ancient and holiest of all shrines in the region. The temple complex is revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. Stupa located inside the Swayambhunath complex, includes several other shrines and temples. According to the Gopalarajavamsavali, the complex is believed to have been founded by King Vrsadeva, the great-grandfather of King Manadeva in 464-505 CE.



Highlights:Eyes of Buddha are painted on the cubical structure sitting atop the dome. Pentagon Toran are present above each of the four edges and have statues engraved on them. Pilgrims require to climb 365 steps in order to reach the stupa.

Hinduism is the most widely followed religion in Nepal. The country has embraced this religion and respects it with several sacred places of interest, including Pashupatinath Temple. This park was granted the status of a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984 while it was established in 1973. It’s a brick building located on the Durbar Square in Kathmandu. But the building goes beyond its architecture and has something quite intriguing to offer- that’s the spiritual reincarnation of Goddess Durga. It is believed that the girl housed in here is the living goddess of Kathmandu.

Kathmandu’s best bookstore, Pilgrims’ Book House was burned down in 2013, but travelers hope that it rises from the ashes. Close to Swayambhunath, one of the most beautiful monasteries in the world lies a sprawling museum in a walled compound. This National Museum has some of the most interesting treasures on display, which makes it worth a visit.

Highlights:In the museum compound, you will find Judda Art Gallery, which is home to exquisite metal, terracotta and stone statues of Nepali deities. There are fabulous cloth paintings here as well. The place has a life sized statue of Jayavarma as well. The statue, discovered in 1992 is over 1800 years old. This museum includes temple styled Buddhist Art Gallery as well. The place has everything from manuscripts to informative displays and stone depiction of Buddha to offer. This place is home to leather cannons as well, seized during the 1792 Nepal-Tibet War.

Kopan Monastery is predominantly covered with Bodhi trees. Once upon a time this place was considered to be the residing place of astrologer for the king of Nepal. The view across this monastery is simply magical. It has accommodated some 360 monks, lamas, teachers and workers.

If you are a hard core history buff, this place is for you, where you will find many age old things reminding you of how once olden Nepal was. It is one of the most spectacular looking monastery near the great stupa of bodhnath. It was with the help of Dilgo Khyentse Riponche who had incorporated the age old tradition of the original Shechen Monastery. It was his strong belief that all the traditions are richly maintained and preserved for shechen monastery. It is a perfect example of rich Tibetan culture. The Dakshinkali Temple is a holy shrine which is dedicated to Goddess Kali. You will find the true goddess Kali with red eyes and protruding tongue. On Saturdays you will find temple fair being conducted in Dakshinkali Temple where people are selling the best of clothes and you can have the best of tea stalls too.

And therefore, an underwater lake or Taudaha was built, where serpent king and the subjects lived. That’s why the lake is considered tranquil. This lake is perfect for birdwatchers, as a number of migratory species visit the place.
