How to reach Joshimath:
By Rail:
The nearest railway station to Joshimath is Rishikesh railway station at a distance of 250 km on NH58. Rishikesh is well connected by railway networks with major destinations of India and trains to Rishikesh are frequent. Joshimath is well connected by motorable roads with Rishikesh.
By Air:
How to reach Joshimath by Flight. Jolly Grant airport near Dehradun (25 km east of the city) is the nearest airport. It is 273 km away from Joshimath. In fact, this airport is closer to Rishikesh (approx. 16 km) and takes roughly 20-30 minutes to reach Rishikesh.
By Road:
You can get to Joshimath from Haridwar or Rishikesh by bus or by hiring a taxi. The drive is very scenic and runs along the Ganga and its tributaries. The best time for Satopanth Tal Trek is during the summer season and the post-monsoon season. You can enjoy in summers between the months of mid-May to June. The difficulty level of the Satopanth trek is moderate. This Satopanth Tal trek requires you to have prior experience of high-altitude trekking. It is recommended that you have at least two Moderate grade treks. Basic physical fitness can make the trek a little easier. Moreover, it is suggested you increase your stamina by doing Cardio-vascular exercises like running and swimming.
