How to Reach:
Haridwar is the best option to start this tour as it is very well connected through road and rail networks but does not have its own airport.
By Rail: Haridwar railway station is well connected to all major cities and towns of India like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Dehradun, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Patna, Gaya, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Kochi.
By Road: A number of state transport and private buses/ taxis connect Haridwar with Delhi, Haryana, UP, Punjab, and other parts of Uttarakhand
By Air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun serves as the nearest airport to Haridwar. Local vehicles can be availed from outside the airport to reach Haridwar. As the frequency of flights to Dehradun airport is less, you can also take a flight to IGI airport, Delhi, and further by roadways, which is a pleasant journey overall.
The best time to visit Chardham Yatra from Haridwar is during the months of April to June. During these months, it is summertime and the temperature is between 7 degrees to 20 degrees Celsius.
Alternatively, the winter season is not favorable due to heavy snow and very low-temperature levels. Similarly, the monsoon season is also recommended due to heavy rains, floods, and landslides.
