Day 01: Arrival in Bagdogra, Drive from Bagdogra to Siliguri, Ride from Siliguri to Phuentsholling
Day Highlights: First Day of Riding, Bagdogra, Siliguri, Bike pick-up, Phuentsholing.
Day Details: Set forth on your exciting journey by arriving at the city of Bagdogra. The second largest city in Bhutan will give you a warm welcome and a glimpse into all the excitement the trip has in store for you. You will then travel to Siliguri by means of a pre-arranged vehicle, where you will pick up your bike, your companion for the remainder of the trip. Your first ride will be to Phuentsholing, where you will halt overnight.
Day 02: Riding from Phuentsholling to Thimphu (Via Chunka)
Day Highlights: Permit, Thimphu, Local Market.
Day Details: Your day begins early after a sumptuous breakfast! Get your permit processed before you head on a pleasant ride to Thimphu, a city that is at a distance of 155km.On arrival, check into your hotel and head out on an afternoon visit to the local market! The rest of the evening is for you to enjoy at your leisure.
Day 03: Thimphu City Tour
Day Highlights: BBS Tower, SAARC Building, India House, Handicraft School, Memorial Chorten, Simtokha Dzong.
Day Details: Get set to explore the lively city of Thimphu riding your favourite bike! Take a day to visit the landmarks of Thimphu –which will give you an insight on the native life, history and culture. Visit the BBS tower known for its fascinating views of the Thimphu valley. The SAARC building, local handicrafts school and monasteries to take a look at the unique art forms and religious and political beliefs of the region. The Memorial Chorten and India House are other must-visits while in the city of Thimphu. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to enjoy; overnight stay in Thimpu.
Day 04: Riding from Thimphu - Punakha/Wangdue Phodrong (Via Do Chula Pass)
Day Highlights: Do Chula Pass, Punakha/Wangdue Phodrong, Punakha Dzong, melange of Po chu & Mo chu
Day Details: Take leave of the capital city after an early breakfast and head towards Punakha/Wangdue Phodrong. Enroute you will pass through the Do Chula Pass that is at a staggering height of 10000ft! This is also regarded as an important spiritual destination on account of the Punakha Dzong that is located at its peak. Check into your hotel on arrival and treat your taste buds to a full meal! Post this, make a visit to the Punakha Dzong – the serenity of which will calm your senses. Also visit the confluence of the Po Chu and Mo Chu Rivers for a captivating sight! Overnight at Punakha/Wangdue Phodrong.
Day 05: Ride from Punakha/Wangdue Phodrong to Trongsa
Day Highlights: Trongsa, museums, Dzongs
Day Details: Today you will depart and ride to Trongsa – a picturesque town located in Central Bhutan. The distance is about 145km and will need about 6 hours to travel. Situated at the very end of a ridge, this town overlooks a deep and gorgeous valley! With a history that dates back to the 16th century, you will find this town has come a long way without losing out on its natural beauty. There are museums (converted from a watchtower), palaces and Dzongs –each of which adds to the mystique and splendour of Trongsa. The evening is at leisure for you to explore and learn. Overnight at a hotel at Trongsa.
Day 06: Ride from Trongsa back to Punakha/Wangdue Phodrong
Day Highlights: Punakha.
Day Details: Today you will retrace your journey back to the town of Punakha. Relax and unwind after a long day of travel or set out to get a feel of the local lifestyle at Punakha. You are at leisure for the rest of the evening.
Day 07: Punakha/Wangdue Phodrong - Paro
Day Highlights: Paro, Paro Market.
Day Details: Take your journey forward by riding up to Paro after a filling and nourishing breakfast! Paro is at a distance of approximately 60km and can be reached in less than 2 hours. On arrival, check into your hotel and head ou to explore Paro. One of the most beautiful towns of Bhutan, Paro is home to the only international airport of the country. In the afternoon, you can make a visit to the Paro Market and pick up a few mementos for your loved ones back home! Enjoy the evening at a pace comfortable to you; overnight stay at Paro.
Day 08: Paro City Tours
Day Highlights: Drugyel Dzong, Ta Dzong, Paro Dzong, Taksthang Monastery.
Day Details: Today is your chance to explore the captivating town of Paro in all its glory and charm. Visit places of historical importance like the Drugyal Dzong and Ta Dzong – each of which has unique architecture and stories. The Drugyal Dzong was originally a fortress and Buddhist monstery but is now in a dilapidated condition. The Ta Dzong is the National Cultural Museum – an eye opener and absolute stunner. The Paro Dzong and the Taksthang Monastery are religious establishments – the former being the largest Buddhist monastery and the latter being a scared temple located on a cliffside of the Paro valley also called Tiger Nest view point! Marvels in architecture, you are sure to be left speechless at these visual delights! The evening is free for you to explore this land of unending mystery. Overnight at Paro.
Day 09: Paro – Phuentsholling
Day Highlights: Phuentsholing.
Day Details: You will begin your return journey today with a ride back to Phuentsholing – one that covers 150km in about 4 hours. Check into your hotel on arrival unwind for the rest of the evening. Alternatively you could set put to explore the town that has quite a few attractions. You could visit the border or the Chukha Hydrothermal Project. You could also go to the Amo Chuu, the Crocodile Breeding Centre if you love animals and wildlife! Overnight at Phuentsholing.
Day 10: Phuentsholling – Siliguri – Bagdogra.
Day Highlights: Your journey ends today.
Day Details: Rev up your bikes all the way back to Siliguri where you will hand them over. Depart for Bagdogra Airport, enriched by this experience of a love affair with Bhutan .
