Step into the spiritual heart of Gulmarg at the Shrine of Baba Reshi, built in the 15th century in honour of Baba Payamuddin Reshi. Located at an elevation of 7,000 ft (approx), this holy place is surrounded by dense pine forests and rolling meadows, making it a scenic destination that you can add to Kashmir tour packages. The shrine’s architecture reflects Kashmiri woodwork and Indo-Persian influences with intricately carved panels and a peaceful prayer hall that welcomes both devotees and history enthusiasts.
The shrine is quite popular among both locals and visitors who come to worship and make their offerings here, along with enjoying the serene surroundings of its gardens. After offering prayers, visitors can observe and even take part in traditional Kashmiri customs that are still practised here.
While there, make sure to try a cup of Kehwa tea from neighbourhood vendors - it's refreshing and will take all your travel fatigue away. It's a great addition to your Gulmarg itinerary as the paths surrounding it lead to several less-travelled forest trails and hikes, including the one to Khilanmarg.
