By Road: Yuksom is about 10–12 km from Khangchendzonga National Park. In about 30 to 45 minutes, visitors can take a private taxi to get to their destination.
Peak Season (April to June)
Weather: The weather is cool and clear, perfect for trekking and sightseeing. Days are pleasant, and nights can be chilly.
Things to Do: Trekking on untouched trails, wildlife spotting, and marvelling at views of Mt Khangchendzonga and the surrounding landscapes.
Moderate Season (July to September)
Weather: Heavy rainfall makes trails slippery, and some areas may be inaccessible. The forest becomes lush and vibrant.
Things to Do: Take in the greenery of the monsoon season, go on nature hikes, visit neighbouring villages and hamlets, and discover Sikkim's local way of life.
Low season (October to March)
Weather: Snowfall at higher elevations and cold temperatures. Snow may force the closure of some trekking routes.

Know Before You Go!
Stroll through forests of rhododendron and pine. A tranquil respite from the bustle of the city is provided by the mountain air and quiet paths. Along the way, you might even see rarely seen bird species.
For unobstructed views of Mt. Khangchendzonga, visit the park's viewpoints. Locals hold the mountain in high regard, and many visitors find that seeing the sun rise over it is especially memorable.

When the weather is pleasant and the animals are more active, April through June and September through November are the ideal seasons.
Indeed, permits issued by the Forest Department are required for visitors, particularly those who plan to trek or camp within the park.
Because of the difficult terrain and elevation, this area is best suited for experienced hikers. Treks with a guide are strongly advised.
