Cola Beach, also known as Khola Beach, is a hidden gem in South Goa's Canacona region. It is where a clear freshwater lagoon meets the Arabian Sea in a peaceful, emerald embrace. Golden beaches with swaying palm trees and rough hills make a peaceful place far away from Goa's busy beaches.
Getting there is half the fun, expect to drive on a dusty, red-mud trail that keeps people away and gets you ready for peace. When you get there, the lagoon's calm waters call you to swim, kayak, or just be alone and think, all while being watched over by lush green trees.
Charming Rajasthani-style tents and simple cottages, like those at Cola Beach Resort or Blue Lagoon Resort, make it feel like you're really there when you stay overnight. The sunsets here are like something out of a movie: the fiery skies are reflected in the water, the soft waves whisper over the sand, and the peace lasts long after dark.
• Swim in the tranquil freshwater lagoon where a creek meets the Arabian Sea, framed by lush palm-lined hills and golden sand.
• Kayak through the emerald-hued lagoon, where calm waters offer scenic paddling, especially magical during sunrise or sunset.
• Capture mesmerising sunsets reflecting off the lagoon and sand, creating cinematic hues over serene surroundings.
• Explore both North and South Cola beaches, separated by a rocky hill, offering secluded nooks and dramatic landscapes.
• Relax on uncrowded golden sands, embraced by verdant cliffs and coconut groves, perfect for peaceful escapes.
By car/taxi: Cola Beach is about 48 km from the Goa city centre, via Ambaulim – Bali – Fatorpa – Quitol - Caiguinim/MDR46. It will take you around 1 hour and 30 minutes to get there.

Cola Beach's famous freshwater lagoon, where a creek meets the Arabian Sea, has clear, calm waters that are great for swimming, floating under palm trees, or watching small fish and birds. It is peaceful and beautiful, with lots of green plants around it. It's a great place to think at sunrise or sunset.
You can paddle through the emerald lagoon in a single or double kayak. The experience is good for people of all skill levels and shows the point where freshwater and saltwater meet. Paddling early in the morning or late at night makes the wildlife view and ambient light even more peaceful.
As the day comes to an end, Cola Beach changes colours like a movie. Sunsets reflect fire on water and sand, creating dramatic shapes of palm trees and volcanic rocks. The light and quiet that come from this place make it a great place to take pictures of nature's art.
The Blue Lagoon Restaurant is right next to the water and serves fresh seafood (fish, crab, and prawns), as well as dishes from around the world and drinks. Expect a charming, rustic atmosphere, outdoor seating, and beautiful views while you eat.
Cola Beach is in the Canacona area of South Goa, about 10 km from Agonda and 15 km from Palolem. You can get there by a narrow, unpaved dirt road that is good for SUVs or two-wheelers. Use GPS to get to either Blue Lagoon Resort or Cola Village's bank as a point of reference. There is parking near the trailhead.
No, there is no fee to enter Cola Beach, or fixed hours; it stays open 24 hours a day. But safety and visibility are best between 7 AM and 6:30 PM, especially because there isn't much light and not much development.
The best time to visit Cola Beach is from October to March, especially from November to February, when the weather is nice, the lagoon and sea are calm, and getting there is safe. The monsoon season (June to September) can make roads slippery or make it hard to get to the beach.
